KEWANEE, Mo. — William “Bill” Moore, age 73, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at his home in Kewanee. He was born Sept. 27, 1949, in Sikeston, Missouri, to the late Charles William Moore and Mary Weidermann Moore.
A Proud Veteran of the United States Army, having served as a mechanic during the Vietnam War, he was a self-employed master mechanic before retiring. He was a strong advocate for veterans’ rights. Bill was an active member of the Crowe Congregational Methodist Church in Matthews, Missouri.
On Dec. 22, 1969, Bill married Sherma Joyce Gulledge, in East Prairie, Missouri, who survives of the home.
Bill is also survived by one son, William G. Moore of Southaven, Mississippi; two grandsons, Alex and Andrew Moore of Southaven; one sister, Barbara Summerlott of East Prairie; two stepsisters, Charlene Bradham of Alexander, Arkansas, and Jane Viets of Charleston, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepbrothers, Larry Pope and Ronald Pope.
Friends may call Monday, Oct. 31 from noon to 2 p.m. at Ponder Funeral home in Sikeston. The Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Brother Sonny Jackson, Pastor of Crowe Congregational Methodist Church, will officiate.
Interment will immediately follow at Matthews City Cemetery in Matthews. Bill’s United States Military service will be honored by full military rights at the graveside service.
