Lucy Dealy

BONNE TERRE, Mo. — Lucy Jo Aufdenberg Dealy, 90, of Bonne Terre, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Oct 23, 2022, at Country Meadows in Park Hills, Missouri. She was born Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1931, in Sikeston, Missouri, to the late Raymond “Gene” and Geneva Jo (Andres) Aufdenberg. Lucy received loving care from her compassionate husband, Dave. He became a resident at Country Meadows in order to continue to give her constant care and to live out his promise to care for Lucy “in sickness and in health until death do us part.”

Lucy is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 70 years, Dave; two sons, David (wife Karen) Dealy and Brian (wife Berniece) Dealy; two grandchildren, Dianna Moss and James David Deal; five great-grandchildren, Lucy, William, Charlie, Graham and Stevie Rae; and one brother, Jerry Don Aufdenberg.

Lucy was a member of the Central Methodist University class of 1953. She was a very active student and joined the sorority, Alpha Phi Alpha. She played in the band where she met Dave, the love of her life. They were inseparable. After graduating with a degree in Education Administration, they got married and started a beautiful life together. Lucy took a job as the Administrator of Special Education at Cahokia School District. She absolutely enjoyed her career. She adored raising her two sons and was very proud of all of their achievements. After retirement, they moved to Terre Du Lac where they spent many years building from the ground up. She enjoyed playing bridge at the country club with her friends, baking, sewing and traveling, but most of all, she loved having her family at the lake and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She played the Bell Choir later in life. Lucy had an infectious smile and a contagious laugh. Lucy was truly one of a kind. She was the most selfless person with a giving heart. She will be fondly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial visitation will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church in Bonne Terre, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, from 9 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Wiant officiating.
