Sikeston High School Class of 1962 still rockin’

The Sikeston High School Class of 1962 celebrated its 60-year reunion with a two-night event held Oct. 14 and 15 at the Fox Haven Country Club. During the Friday night mixer, graduates enjoyed getting reacquainted and, through a game, learning interesting and amusing facts about one another.

Saturday morning, graduates were impressed and inspired as they toured the new C Building at the high school campus. The campus holds endearing memories for the members of the Class of 1962, as they were the first class to spend its entire senior year at “the new high school.”

Honored guests at the Saturday night banquet were former teachers Joan Crites Grant, Pat and Doris Jones and Roger Sherman.

Following the banquet, classmate Joe Bean related his memories of Sikeston, how it has changed, how it remains the same, and how it will always be “home.”

Following Bean’s comments, Jordi Newman, the granddaughter of Joyce Turner Hagy, Class of 62, presented a video of familiar Sikeston landmarks along with pictures of the classmates and their activities from elementary school through graduation.
