Liberalism working way into local schools

On Oct. 14, Friday’s edition of the Standard Democrat, I can see where left wing liberalism is working it’s way into our local schools like it is in other parts of the country. In the article, “R-6 board approves part of district’s strategic plan,” on page 15 of the article, it uses the word “equity” twice. Equity means you show a preference for some races over other races. For example, you show a preference of Black people over white people. That’s equity and that’s unconstitutional. Equity and equality are two different things. Equality is good but equity is bad because you are showing a preference of one race of people over another race of people. It’s on page 15 of the article, “R-6 board approves part of district’s strategic plan.” Equity is wrong. It should not be used in our local school system.

Take my trash

I’m calling regarding the annual fall cleanup that was in Friday night’s paper. I along with numerous senior citizens of mine just became aware we would not have a fall pickup curbside. I feel, along with several others, that we have been blindsided by our city council and by a contractual contractor, Sonny’s Solid Waste, by no longer getting this service provided to us. That was part of Sonny’s agreement with the new utensils they got, the new curbside dumpsters, that they would provide the cleanups for fall and spring. Now I realize and I sympathize with Sonny’s that they don’t have the staff. But they are not by themselves. There are numerous businesses in Sikeston who are having the same problem with staffing. And we should not have to suffer because of Sonny’s Solid Waste not being able to have the staff. I alone with several of my senior citizen friends have no way of getting things to the compost site. It makes it difficult for us, whereas before we could take it to the curb and Sonny’s would pick it up. I personally feel that Sonny’s has neglected to look after this aspect for the residence of Sikeston and it should be looked at it and reconsidered. Furthermore, they have also eliminated the fall one which was the easiest one for people to get items out of their house or garages and at the curb, and now we only have the spring one which is too cool to get the items out there. I think the city council should look at this and we have talked about coming down as a group to city council, but I said I would offer to do this on behalf on the senior citizens because I feel like it should be all groups that are looked at. There’s others who have low incomes and people who are on fixed incomes. They need to be taken into consideration as well as Sonny’s Solid Waste not having sufficient staffing. They should provide for that because that was their initial agreement.

In reference to you being blindsided, the Standard Democrat ran a front page story on Aug. 10, “Sikeston trash contract renewed with two changes.” Unlike their previous contract, which you are referencing, the new contract with Sonny’s does not include curbside pickup during the cleanup. However, have you tried calling Sonny’s to see if they would come by and pick up your items?
