CHARLESTON, Mo. — Albert Vernon Goodin IV, age 84, a resident of Charleston, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Born May 7, 1938, at Cape Girardeau, to the late Albert Vernon Goodin III and Virginia Elizabeth Whitehead Goodin, he had lived in Charleston his entire life.

CHARLESTON, Mo. — Albert Vernon Goodin IV, age 84, a resident of Charleston, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Born May 7, 1938, at Cape Girardeau, to the late Albert Vernon Goodin III and Virginia Elizabeth Whitehead Goodin, he had lived in Charleston his entire life. A longtime member of the First Baptist Church at Charleston, he served as the head usher and as a deacon for a number of years and was then given the status of deacon emeritus. Albert was a lifelong farmer until his retirement.

From 1956 until 1962, Albert served in his local National Guard unit.

On Nov. 12, 1960, he married Gladys Jane Finley, who preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2021.

Survivors include: his sons, Albert Vernon Goodin V of Charleston and Harry Finley (Ann) Goodin of Fishers, Indiana; his grandchildren, Emmalyn Rose (Eric) Ader of Sheridan, Indiana, and Patrick Finley Goodin of Indianapolis, Indiana; his brothers, Lester Whitehead (Janet) Goodin of Cape Girardeau and R.E. Lee (Sallie) Goodin of Charleston; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew Kerr Goodin; his brother, John Wilbur Lindsay Goodin Sr.; and his stepfather, John Davis Ridings.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2022. Milton Harrington, pastor, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Charles Tinsley, Bill Feezor, Ray Presson, Roy Presson, Brian Matthews and Bradley Laroche.
