Michael Smith
SIKESTON — Michael Wayne Smith, age 61, passed away on Dec. 8, 2022, at Hunter Acres Care Center in Sikeston.
He was born on May 21, 1961, in Kennett, Missouri, to Shirley George Smith and the late Archie Smith.
He was a member of Miner Baptist Church in Sikeston. He retired from Noranda Aluminum in 2016 after 17 years of service. Michael served in the United States Marine Corps for four years, receiving an honorable discharge.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Brooke (Adam) Johnson of Sikeston; one son, Brandon Smith and Kelsie Holifield of Chaffee, Missouri; one brother, Gary Smith of Sikeston; and three grandchildren, Owen Lornson, Graham Johnson and Benjamin Smith.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his four grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston with Danny Kuykendall officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, with military honors.
Pallbearers will be: Brandon Smith, Adam Johnson, Phillip Stinnett and Randy Hooe.
