Mississippi County sheriff releases annual service calls report for 2022

CHARLESTON, Mo. —The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office’s annual calls for service report for 2022 has been released by the sheriff.

“Our average response time was nine minutes, and our average on-scene time was 23 minutes,” said Mississippi County Sheriff Britton H. Ferrell, who released the report Tuesday, Jan. 17.

In 2022, the Sheriff’s Office received 236 medical and 911 calls; 96 animal calls; 70 assaults; 362 (including 35 involving children) assists to other agencies; 70 domestic assaults; 193 motor vehicle accidents; 104 search warrants; 46 sex offender (checks and arrests); 179 calls for suspicious activities, people or vehicles; 856 traffic stops; 261 (including prison and mental health unit) transports; 120 warrant arrests; and 10 federal indictments.

“These numbers only represent a portion of what your Sheriff’s Office does every year,” Ferrell said. “All total, we managed over 5,789 calls and averaged 3,300 people in and out of the jail this year.

He continued: “I share these numbers with you as our ongoing promise to be transparent about what your office is doing. However, I will brag on my staff as they continue to do the job the right way, representing both law enforcement and Mississippi County to the best of their ability. All of us here at the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center wish each of you a safe and prosperous 2023.”
