Contaminated meth creating a danger to local drug users
NEW MADRID, Mo. - Over the last week, officers have taken several calls that were initially given out as “change of mental status,” but in reality were related to drug intoxication.
When officers arrive, the person is usually hallucinating, taking off their clothes, and suffering from extreme paranoia. In at least one case, the patient fled the house as the police arrived and had to be restrained to be put into an ambulance.
It appears that there is tainted methamphetamine in the area, and anyone who is an illicit drug user should be extremely careful; the use of street drugs is always dangerous, but especially right now. In general, it has taken five days or more for the effects of the contaminated drug to wear off.
If you or someone you know is suffering adverse effects from illicit drug use, call 911 immediately. The suicidal and homicidal tendencies shown can be extremely dangerous not only to the user, but those around them and in their household.
