Not a Smith fan

The Democrats did not decide to raise the price of gas as Jason Smith noted in the Feb.1 Standard Democrat. The Keystone pipeline was not even scheduled to be operational till 2024 or 2025 and not the cause of current high gas prices. Thank Joe Biden for selling off part of the oil reserves. It has reduced the price of gas at the pumps which has helped the American people. The Ukrainian war, greedy oil companies, and the COVID were the primary causes of high gas prices. I get tired of hearing Republican representatives blame and complain, and yet, they have done nothing to help reduce gas prices at the pump.

After reading Jason Smith’s Feb. 1 article in the Standard Democrat, it is his typical article of complaints and hate with the opposite party. Jason has no plan(s), no suggestions, no working with the other party to help or make improvements. He is the new Chairman of the Ways and means committee and reported nothing that the Ways and Means committee is doing or working on to improve the American people. I have real concerns if he is really qualified to handle the responsibilities, particularly the U.S. financial accountability to the American people, which is the primary function of the Ways and Means committee. Jason also needs to start leading and stop using Donald Trump, who lost, failed and lied, as his rationalization for failure, and start solving his-our problems as he was elected to do.
