Sikeston City Council held its first regular meeting of the month Monday, Feb. 6 at the Lincoln University Extension in Sikeston.
The Council approved bill No. 6296 for the authorization to rezone land on the north side of Baker Lane from Single-Family Residential (R-1) to Single-Family Residential District (R-2) in the City of Sikeston.
The Council also approved bill No. 6297 to subdivide a tract of land containing 5.530 acres to be known as Magazine Trace North of Baker Lane in Sikeston.
Sikeston City Manager Jonathan Douglass also informed Council the budget process is starting, with the first draft scheduled to be presented to Council in April.
Mayor Greg Turnbow ended the meeting by saying the Council’s aim with holding meetings at locations other than Sikeston City Hall is to get more people from the community involved. He also expressed appreciation to everyone who came out to Lincoln University to attend the meeting.
“We want people to see, getting involved,” Turnbow said. “If you have a voice, please speak up. We want people to come out and find out what the city workings are, the city government and how that works.”
