LILBOURN, Mo. — Clover Bankhead Williams, 69, resident of Lilbourn, formerly of East Prairie, Missouri, died Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Clearview Care Center in Sikeston, Missouri. She was born May 1, 1953, in Murphysboro, Illinois, to the late Johnnie Bankhead and the late Annie Pearl Cole Bankhead.
Clover was a member of Greers Chapel Missionary Baptist in Sikeston, where she served in many capacities. She was a member of the Usher board, kitchen committee and was a former Sunday School teacher. She loved her church family and serving God's people.
She was a graduate of East Prairie High School. Clover furthered her education by attending college at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Clover spent many years working at Brown Shoe Company until they closed. She then went to work at the University of Missouri Extension Office in Charleston, Missouri. She was very active in 4-H and had a passion for helping the youth in the area.
Clover was a loving, quirky soul who enjoyed traveling. Her favorite things to do were cooking, eating and gardening. She always had food with her, and she loved her flowers. She appreciated having a good time and rocking her wigs. With Clover being a family-oriented person, she thoroughly enjoyed being with her family, her Greers Chapel Church family, her girlfriends, Bernice, Sherry, and Marilyn, and with her fur babies, Dahlia and Onyx, all who she loved dearly and held close to her heart. She also had a special spot for her sister-in-law and nurse, Lynn (Linda) Williams Sales, who took care of her. Clover will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Ann Williams; and three brothers, Theodis Bankhead, John Lee Bankhead and George Howard Bankhead.
She is survived by her two sons, DeWayne Edward “Wanky” Williams and Marcus George Williams of Cape Girardeau; five brothers, Luther Aaron (Suzanne) Bankhead of East Germany, Sherman Bankhead of Indianapolis, Indiana, Frazier Bankhead of Cape Girardeau and Hurah Lee (Carolyn) Bankhead and Carl Edward Bankhead of Lilbourn; one sister, Devoratha Liggens of Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her two dogs, Dahlia and Onyx; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour of noon at Greers Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston with the pastor, Reverend Paul Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
