The street has been renamed from Col. George E. Day Parkway to Gen. George E. Day Parkway following Day’s posthumous advancement to brigadier general in 2018. Day, who died in 2013, was a U.S. Air Force officer, aviator and veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He was also a prisoner of war and recipient of the Medal of Honor and Air Force Cross.
