Gary Brown

MATTHEWS, Mo. — Gary Wayne Brown, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

He was born on Dec. 13, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to the late Charles and Dortha McConnell Brown Jr.

On Sept. 6, 1975, in Matthews, he married Grace McCoy Brown who survives of the home in Sikeston.

Gary retired from Sikeston BMU in 2000 after 20 years of service as an electrician.

He was a member and deacon of First Missionary Baptist Church in Matthews.

He is survived by one son, Derek (Kimberly) Brown of Flowery Branch, Georgia; two daughters, Carrie (Todd) Green of Sikeston and Amanda (Joseph) Bard of Sikeston; one brother Timothy (Tonya) Brown of Sikeston; one sister, Cathy (Dennis) Reed of Sikeston; eight grandchildren, Austin Brown, Camie Bard, Valarie Bard, Brayden Green, Taylor Green, Haily Bard, Damien Brown and Myranda Brown; eight great-grandchildren, Zaiden, Addalynn, Na’Raih, Alanie, Maisyn, Sophie, Jason and Kiazer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, David Brown.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston with Brother Chris Polk, Pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church in Matthews officiating.
