The Higgerson School Historic Site along with the New Madrid Historical Museum and the Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site welcomed visitors on Thursday morning, April 27, 2023, after the riverboat the American Countess docked along the riverfront in New Madrid.

Vistors from the riverboat, the American Countess, took the opportunity to learn more about life along the river during their stop April 27 in New Madrid. The town's historic sites, the New Madrid Historical Museum, the Higgerson School Historic Site and the Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site were all open for tours. (Jill Bock/Standard Democrat)
