Scott City woman killed in crash

BENTON, Mo. — A Scott County woman was killed and two Sikeston, Missouri, children were injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday, May 19 near Benton.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 11:50 a.m. on Route E, one mile east of Benton as the westbound vehicle driven by Theresa L. Wright, 57, of Scott City ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and overturned into a ditch.

Wright was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:12 p.m. by Scott County Coroner Scott Branam and taken to McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Her two passengers, ages 3 and 6, of Sikeston received minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
