FIELDHOUSE IMPROVEMENTS
SIKESTON — Sikeston R-6 Buildings and Grounds Department employees began work on May 16 — the day after the regular school year ended — to tear out the existing bleachers and floors in the Sikeston Fieldhouse to make room for a new gym floor and new bleachers with rails.
While district employees are helping where they can with the demolition, Sikeston R-6 Buildings and Grounds Director Lorrie McClenton said Heartland Seating will install the new red and black Interkal bleachers, and Tri-State Floors will install floor systems in both the Fieldhouse and the practice gym. The two P.E. locker rooms will also receive new floors. The projected completion date is Aug. 14.
Pieces of the gym floor, including two “SEMO Conference” pieces, three “S” pieces and two “2011 State Champs, 30-0” will be up for bid through an auction. Bids will be accepted from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 8 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, June 12 at the Fieldhouse. Many plain cuts of the gym floor will also be available for purchase during those times. Cash or check will be accepted.
