Barbara Webb
SIKESTON — Barbara Jean Webb passed away on June 9, 2023.
She was born on July 30, 1937, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was the daughter of Francis Xavier, Jr. and Alma Jean (Morgan) Schumacher. She married Donald R. Webb at St. Francis Xavier Church, Sikeston on Aug. 30, 1957.
Barbara graduated as Valedictorian of Sikeston High School in 1955. She attended St. Louis University before marrying Don. Barbara worked at a bank in Gary, Indiana, and assisted the Director of Student Health Services at Purdue University. Later in life, she worked for Rick Hexum Builders, in Rochester, Minnesota, and Schumacher Financial Services in Sikeston.
Barbara and Don had three children, Cathy, Don Jr. and Carla. Barbara was a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Room Mother and served on the local Girl Scout Council. Barbara and Don led backpacking and canoeing trips for Senior Girl Scouts for the Council. Later, Barbara was in charge of the Spouses Group for the IBM Commons meetings, planning tours and entertainment for them. In retirement, Barbara was the Chairwoman of the local Republican Committee, and enjoyed reconnecting with high school friends in the “Lunch Bunch.”
Barbara and Don have seven grandchildren, Sara, Anne, Lori, Donald III, Emma, Cindy, and Katie. They loved spending time with them at their cabin in Northern Minnesota – fishing, catching frogs, canoeing, picking blueberries, putting on plays, and sightseeing in the area.
They also have 13 great-grandchildren who have brought them lots of joy over the last 20 years.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Francis, and her sister, Mary Alice. She is survived by her sisters, Anna and Teresa, and brother, Mark, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 5 p.m. until the time of the Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston with Celebrant, Father Colby Elbert, officiating.
A private family interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Bill Durako, Stuart Marsh, Donald Webb III, Lee Marsh, Thomas Ellison and Cindy Marsh.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joan Cowell, Sara Ponder and Greta Davis.
