Donald ‘Wayne’ Newson

SIKESTON – Donald Wayne Newson, 57, died Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Missouri Delta Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Freddie Newson; maternal grandparents, Jessie Sr. and Annie B. Newson; aunts, Mary A. Newson, Jessie L. Farr, and Patricia Newson; and uncle, Tommie E. Newson.

Donald was born May 23, 1966, in New Madrid, Missouri, to Eddie White and Lillie B. Newson. Affectionally known as “Wayne,” he was an incredibly loving and kind man who enjoyed cooking, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. He attended Portageville High School and later received his diploma and a certificate in Welding.

“Wayne” was a laid back, people person that loved helping others when needed. As a family-oriented man, he enjoyed making people laugh but would also express the way he felt. His loving personality and big heart will be deeply missed. He enriched and made our lives better with his presence.

Donald leaves to cherish his precious memories: his mother, Lillie B. Newson of Sikeston; his daughters, Brandi Newson and Dontaria Bailey, both of St. Louis, Missouri, and Brittany (Martez) Newson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sons, Antwaun Freeman of Kansas City, Missouri, Mark Sharp of Hayti, Missouri, Deangelo (Shlonda) Maxwell and Donald Triblett both of Sikeston; his siblings, Willie (Dottie) Newson, Jeannette Newson, Lesa Samelton and Derick (Teah) Newson all of Sikeston, Demond (Constance) Newson of St. Louis and Tershowra Newson of New Madrid, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Amari Martin, Aubrie Newson, Avri Tillman, A’Tyja Newson, Khamani Rutherford, Ele’ Newson, KaNijae’ Newson, A’Riyah Newson, Kaelyn Freeman, Teuna Mullins, and Aubree Lee; one great grandchild, Kash Rutherford; a special cousin, Mary Lynn Taylor; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may call Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 10 a.m. until the funeral hour of noon at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston with Pastor Timothy Randle of Greater Glory Breakthrough Ministries officiating and Bishop Derick L. Newson eulogizing.

Interment will immediately follow in Simmons Park Cemetery in Catron, Missouri.
