SIKESTON — Thirteen people who were reportedly stuck in a Sikeston hotel elevator for nearly an hour Saturday, July 1 were freed without injury.

At 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Sikeston Department of Public Safety’s Fire and Police Divisions responded to Hampton Inn, 1240 Commerce Drive, in Sikeston in reference to 13 subjects stuck in an elevator, according to a Sikeston DPS. It was determined the elevator was stuck between floors two and three. Several attempts were made to try and correct the stalled elevator without success, DPS said.

“Due to the long response time for the elevator company, Sikeston officers implemented all safety measures and entered the elevator shaft. Roughly 45 minutes after arriving on scene, all occupants were freed from the elevator,” DPS said.

No injuries were report from this incident.
