Gary Keith Overybey
Eldon, Mo. — Gary Keith Overbey, 63, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at his residence in Eldon. He was born Dec. 2, 1959, in Sikeston, Missouri, the son of Loy and Doris (Bell) Overbey. On Aug. 31, 2012, in Versailles, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Lillian (Hand) Overbey, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: his mother, Doris Overbey of Sikeston; stepdaughters, Andrea VanHooser (Jason) of Eldon and Amanda Barnhart (Brian) of Eldon; stepgrandchildren, Cynthia, Camryn, Ethan and Chloe; great-stepgrandson, Hudson; siblings, David Overbey and Dennis Overbey, both of Sikeston; niece, Rachel Overbey of Jacksonville, Florida; nephew, Justin Overbey of Sikeston.
His father, Loy Overbey, preceded him in death.
Gary was employed with MoDOT for 21 years before retiring in 2019. He was a dedicated family man who loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. Gary had a strong testimony of the church and lived his life according to his beliefs and principles. He had a deep love for his family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Gary requested to be cremated and his ashes to be scattered at a location of his choosing in Sikeston. A Celebration of Life will be planned for family and friends at a later date.
