SALEM, Ill. — Theresa Ann Faught Canady, age 60, of Benton, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Helia Healthcare Center in Salem.

Theresa was born Feb. 8, 1963, at Jacksonville, North Carolina, to Lois Harris Faught who survives of Sikeston, Missouri, and the late Donald Wayne “Doc” Faught. A graduate of Kelly High School, she went on to work for 18 years as the manager of the fabric department of Walmart at Sikeston and later was employed with Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, as a laundry technician. Having lived in Benton, Missouri, most of her life, Theresa was an active member of the Unity Baptist Church where she worked in many areas of the church ministry. Theresa was very talented. In her spare time, Theresa would spend time in her craft room working on family albums, scrapbooking, sewing and various other arts and crafts. Theresa was very family-oriented and enjoyed spending time with her husband, John, and children Meagan and Matthew, at the lake fishing.

On April 23, 1983, she married Johnny Ray Canady, who survives of the home.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter, Meagan Nicole (Brannon) Douglas and her son, Matthew John Franklin Canady all of Benton; her brothers, Donald (Jeana) Faught of Blodgett, Missouri, and James (Keri) Faught of Cape Girardeau; her sister, Kim (Nick) Fincher of Sikeston and her half sister, Donna (Kent) Tarpenning of Hideaway, Texas; also, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Unity Baptist Church in Benton with the pastor, the Rev. Dennis Lowe, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Unity Baptist Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.
