Helen Hilliard

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Helen J. Hilliard, age 90, of Edwardsville passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.

She was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Bertrand, Missouri, the daughter of the late Thurman and Florence (Hicks) Harper. Helen married Howard Q. Hilliard on July 24, 1954, in Bertrand; he preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 2015.

She is survived by one son, Howard R. Hilliard and wife Debbie of St. Peters, Missouri; three daughters, Sandra Hosto and husband Keith of Edwardsville, Suzanne Haas and husband David of Millstadt, Illinois, Regina Riegert and husband Bill of Edwardsville; seven grandchildren, Jason (Amber) McReaken, Ben (Courtney) Hosto, Cherie (Brian) Dickmann, Bryan (Kailey) Riegert, Sam Hilliard, Katie (Matt) Costello; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Russell Harper of Chelsea, Alabama, Howard Harper and wife Kay of Sikeston, Missouri; and one sister-in-law, Deane Harper of Sun City, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Harper; and one sister, Louise Crook. Helen was a member of the Metro Community Church in Edwardsville for many years.

A visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Weber and Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. The funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the funeral home, followed by burial at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville.
