Two charged in drug trafficking investigation in New Madrid
NEW MADRID, Mo. — Two people are charged following a months-long investigation into local drug trafficking.
New Madrid Police Chief Joey Higgerson reported July 25 that an officer with his department assigned to the SEMO Drug Task Force received a search warrant for an apartment building in the 200 block of Main Street. On July 14, officers from several agencies served the warrants at two apartments in the building and seized approximately two pounds of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, scales, material to package methamphetamine for sale and approximately $2,700 in cash.
According to online court records, Sabrina Kay Naile and David Scott Carlyle of New Madrid are charged with first degree trafficking of drugs or attempt. Bond for Naile is set at $75,000 while Carlyle is currently being held without bond and has a bond hearing set for Aug. 24.
Agencies involved in the arrests included the New Madrid Police Department, Portageville Police Department, New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, SEMO Drug Task Force and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
