Woman charged with murder of a Scott City man

SCOTT CITY, Mo. — A woman has been charged with the murder of a Scott City man.

On Monday, July 24, Scott City police officers responded to the 200 block of Keeley Avenue in reference to a call of shots fired, according to a social media post by Scott City Police Department. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 50-year-old male who had apparent gunshot wounds. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Following an investigation, officers arrested 47-year-old Mary Virginia Ruble whose address is listed as Scott City. The investigation is ongoing, the police department said.

Ruble was formally charged through Scott County Prosecuting Attorney Donald Cobb’s office with the following: first-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Ruble, who is currently being held in the Scott County Jail on a no-bond warrant, was formally arraigned Wednesday, July 26 before Judge Zac Horack, online court records said. Ruble appeared in custody by video, entered a not guilty plea and requested a public defender. A bond reduction hearing is set for 10 a.m. Aug. 3.
