Personnel from three communities battle fire at Magnitude 7 Metals

MARSTON, Mo. — Fire personnel from three communities joined local plant personnel to battle a blaze at the business.

At approximately 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, the Portageville Fire Department was paged to a mutual aid request from Marston to Magnitude 7 Metals in response to a commercial fire. Personnel from the New Madrid Fire Department also responded to the scene where the carbon bake air control was on fire.

Portageville’s Ladder 10 was needed to provide water to the upper part of the silo to help prevent spread to nearby structures. After several hours and with the help of Mag 7 employees, the fire was extinguished. According to a report from the Portageville Fire and Rescue, the fire was hard to gain access to, but firefighters were able contain it to one sector of the plant with minimal damage.

All departments remained on scene until 6 p.m.
