Two Sikeston residents arrested on drug-trafficking charges following an investigation
SIKESTON — Two Sikeston residents face felony drug trafficking charges following an investigation by area law enforcement agencies.
Steven Townsend of Sikeston is charged with first degree drug trafficking, unlawful possession of firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. Diamond Craft of Sikeston is charged with first degree drug trafficking.
On Friday, Aug. 25, area law enforcement agencies arrested Townsend and Diamond on drug-related charges, according to Sgt. Tyler Rowe with Sikeston Department of Public Safety. Sikeston DPS narcotics officers, New Madrid County sheriff’s deputies and Drug Enforcement Agency, or DEA, officers were able to gather and investigate information of the subjects transporting fentanyl through the Southeast Missouri area, Rowe said.
New Madrid County deputies were able to locate the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop, Rowe said. A K-9 unit was utilized and alerted to the vehicle; a search was conducted of the vehicle, and officers located fentanyl and a firearm. Townsend and Craft were taken into custody were identified and charged through the New Madrid County prosecuting attorney’s office.
Townsend and Craft are being held on a no-bond arrest arrest warrant.
