New Madrid County native Madam M. Collins celebrates her 100th birthday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Born on July 27, 1923, Madam M. Collins recently celebrated a century of life. She was honored by children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and church members at a celebration held at the Golden Corral in Cape Girardeau.

A native of New Madrid County, Missouri, Collins said she never imagined she’d live to be 100 years old. She thanked God for the blessings of life. Her main hobby is watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Her secrets for living a long life are: “Stay on the go” and “eat well.”
