New Madrid County R-1 staff takes part in professional development
NEW MADRID, Mo. — An in-service day on Oct. 20 provided faculty across the New Madrid County R-1 District with the opportunity for professional development.
At the request of the District’s Professional Development Committee, the R-1 School Board doubled the number of in-service days for the 2023-24 school year to four. This was the second in-service day.
According to Dr. Sam Duncan, R-1 superintendent, the main focus of the day was curriculum.
“We continue to work on curriculum for all subjects and all grade levels,” he said.
Working with regional officials, a math in-service program was presented. In addition those involved in special education worked specifically on how to track students to ensure their needs are being met, the Superintendent said.
