GREAT PUMPKINS

Friday, October 27, 2023

Students at Wing Elementary in Sikeston look through the variety of decorated pumpkins for the school’s no-carve pumpkin decorating contest, which began Oct. 12 and ended Thursday, Oct. 26. From a Starbucks latte and the “Rich Uncle” from the Monopoly game to a pig with piglets and Pennywise the clown — and everything in between — student creativity was on full display at the school. Parents, teachers, students and visitors were able to vote on their favorite pumpkin by dropping money in a donation cup in front of the pumpkin during the contest time frame. The Sikeston R-6 district’s other two elementary schools, Lee Hunter and Southeast, also conducted pumpkin decorating contests. Turn to Page 10 to see more decorated pumpkins.
