NMCC Drama Club will perform Thursday
NEW MADRID, Mo. - As the saying goes, the show must go on. Sometimes, however, it takes a little longer to get going.
The New Madrid County Central High School Drama Club had planned its first production during the previous school year, only to be stymied by scheduling conflicts. Now, at 6 p.m. Nov. 2, the actors plan to bring the curtain up on their presentation of “Murder Runs in the Family.”
Director and Club Sponsor Shayna Curtsinger describes the play as a murder mystery with a comedic twist. She explained the plot revolves around death of the family patriarch and as a detective works to solve the mystery and the family gathers for the reading of the will, more murders follow.
Leading the cast as detective Jack Spark is Paisley Irvin. Other members include Allie Volz, Ayrasun Roberts, Adan Campbell, Will Campbell, Annalee Keene, Andrew Higgerson, Adriana Cameron, Athena Carnell, Lilly Sanders and Darian Sanders. Braedynn Allred is an understudy for several of the roles.
Despite the challenges the production faced both the previous semester and this semester Curstinger said the cast and crew have proved to be resilient.
“I’m really proud of how they have pulled together and made things work despite how stressful this has been for all of us.” she said.
The doors open at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the New Madrid County Central High School auditorium for the 6 p.m. production of “Murder Runs in the Family.” Admission is free.
