Billy Gilliland Sr.
MORLEY, Mo. — Billy Joe Gilliland Sr., age 89, of Morley passed away Nov. 20, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He was born Jan. 21, 1934, to the late Miller and Bessie Rogers Gilliland. In May 1958, he was married to Marilyn Pearson, who survives of the home.
Billy was a United States Army veteran and stationed in Germany. He was proud of his service and was member of the Morley VFW. Billy worked in sales for Ford Motor Company for 30 years. He was of Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with his family. Billy was a lifelong resident of Scott County, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Pearson Gilliland; one son, Billy (Michele) Gilliland Jr.; two daughters, Cathy Downing, and JoAnn (Terry) Daniels; three brothers, Robert Gilliland of Kansas City, Missouri, Leonard Gilliland of St. Louis, Missouri, and David Gilliland of Thayer, Missouri; four sisters, Janet Blackburn of Sikeston, Missouri, Geraldine Colter of Sikeston, Diane Thatcher of Sikeston, and Nancy Pruitt of Morley; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Miller Ray and Henry Gilliland; two sisters, Geneva Dumey and Jackie Alexander; and two grandchildren, Terry Daniels and Jacob Glastetter.
Visitation will be at Ponder Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service following at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow at the New Morley Cemetery with full military honors.
