SIKESTON — Betty Sue Jenkins-Long, age 86, passed away Nov. 28, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Missouri, daughter of the late Albert Benjamin Jenkins and Mary Jane Vanover-Jenkins. Betty was a member of Second Street Church of God that her father founded; she enjoyed playing piano and singing at church, gardening and enjoyed spending time in her gazebo...

SIKESTON — Betty Sue Jenkins-Long, age 86, passed away Nov. 28, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

She was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Missouri, daughter of the late Albert Benjamin Jenkins and Mary Jane Vanover-Jenkins.

Betty was a member of Second Street Church of God that her father founded; she enjoyed playing piano and singing at church, gardening and enjoyed spending time in her gazebo.

In 1952 she married Lester Eugene Long, who preceded her in death.

Other survivors include: four sons, Jackie Long of Sikeston, Albert Damon (Brenda) Long of Springfield, Missouri, James Merlin (Margie) Long of Sikeston and Jeffery Allen Long of Sikeston; one daughter, Lucinda (Thomas) Britt of Booneville, Missouri; one great-grandson she raised like her own son, Luke Long; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one son, Boby Joe Long; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Harrison; four brothers, Junior Jenkins, Jackie Jenkins, Francis Jenkins and Joseph Jenkins.

No services are scheduled.
