Malden man dies in Monday crash

ESSEX, Mo. — A Malden, Missouri, man died in a single-vehicle crash Monday, Nov. 27 near Essex.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 10 p.m. on Route KK, three miles south of Essex, as the southbound vehicle driven by Caleb E. Cockrell, 30, of Malden failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a tree.

According to Stoddard County Coroner Brent Stidham, Cockrell, was pronounced on the scene at 10:45 p.m.

The Stoddard County Coroner’s office was assisted by Patrol, Stoddard County Ambulance District, Stoddard County Sheriff's Office and Essex Fire Department.
