Steve Urhahn

KELSO, Mo. — Steven Ray "Steve" Urhahn of Kelso passed away peacefully on Nov. 29, 2023, at Southeast Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Steve was born March 12, 1949, to Raymond Steve (Pat) and Ida Mae Cannon Urhahn in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was a graduate of Thomas W. Kelly High School in Benton, Missouri, in 1967. He then dedicated his entire life to farming in the Benton, Commerce, Missouri, and Scott City, Missouri, areas alongside his brother, John, as well as supporting his parents in the operation of their hardware store and propane gas business in Benton.

He is survived by Anna Harper of Kelso, his significant other of more than 30 years; brother, John (Diane) Urhahn of Benton; son, Barry (Sharon) Urhahn of Benton; daughters, Leigh (John Sheridan) Vosseller of San Diego, California, Lynne (Jimmy) Gipson of Matthews, Missouri; six grandchildren, Madeline (Andrew) LeGrand of Springfield, Missouri, Grace Urhahn of Benton, Mikayla Vosseller of San Diego, Hayden Vosseller of San Diego, Katey (Justin) Wibbenmeyer of Sikeston, Hunter (Madison) Gipson of Clever, Missouri; and two great-grandchildren, Lane and Kyler Wibbenmeyer of Sikeston, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Andrew Moore for his many years of medical care. He was one of the few people who could tell Steve what he needed to do, and Steve would actually do it — without complaint! We would also like to thank everyone at the Southeast Cancer Center and Southeast Hospital for their tireless care and support.

Per Steve’s wishes, there will not be any services. In his words, “I don’t want any d%&* dog and pony show when I die.” The most appropriate tribute would be to take a minute and raise a cold Coors Light in his memory because we are quite sure he is upstairs enjoying one right now.

Ford & Sons Funeral Home-Mt. Auburn is in charge of arrangements.

In memory of Steve, please send donations to the Southeast Health Foundation Cancer Care Fund in Cape Girardeau, St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton or St. Denis Catholic School in Benton.
