SIKESTON — Olga Iona Griggs, age 92, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at her home in Sikeston.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1931, in Kennett, Missouri, to James O Casey and Pearl Fitzpatrick Casey. On Oct. 18, 1947, she married Robert Taylor Griggs who preceded her in death on April 3, 2014.

Olga was a gracious Christian mother who loved God, and it showed through her character. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she held the title of The Queen to us. Her response to us saying I love you was always I love you more! She was an amazing storyteller, published four Christian romance books and wrote many more. Her story, including her relation to Mark Twain through her father’s lineage, recently appeared in three regional newspapers. She loved spending time with her family, and her home was always a place of peace and encouragement. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by one son, Darryl (Teresa) Griggs of Sikeston; two daughters, Linda (Vince) Schreckenberg of O'Fallon, Missouri, and Janet (William) Mills of Sikeston; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson on the way, and a special niece, Debbie Plunk of Anniston, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Mallory Gene Griggs.

Pallbearers will be: Clay Schreckenberg, Chris Huddleston, Brock Schreckenberg, Ryan Griggs, Josh Mills and Lawson Mills.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Bailey Huddleston, Duncan Mills, Austin Schreckenberg and Graham Mills.

A private family celebration of life service was held on Dec. 3, 2023, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Interment will be Dec. 5 at the Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
