CHARLESTON, Mo. — Warren T. Palmer, age 82, of Charleston died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Born Oct. 14, 1941, at Louisville, Mississippi, to the late Clinton Lemuel Palmer and Phalor Lenora Jernigan, he grew up in Mississippi and moved to Missouri at a young age with this family. After graduating from Anniston, Missouri, High School, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and later served several years with the Missouri National Guard. Warren was no stranger to hard work. As a child, he picked cotton and grew up working as a mechanic and doing farm work, which he continued all his life. In 1982, he opened Palmers Repair Shop. He was a member of the Sikeston Eagles Club and the Charleston V.F.W. Post No. 4294.

On Dec. 5, 1965, he married Gracie Jo. St. Cin, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are his sons, Reese (Janet) Palmer and Todd Palmer; his granddaughter, LeDotta Pind; two great-granddaughters, Olivia Grace Pind and Isabella Marie Pind; his sisters, Anita Johnson, Mary Ann Morton and Helen Steinbeck; his sister-in-law, Peggy Palmer; and also a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his fur babies, Scruffy and Rocky; his brothers, William Chalmers Palmer and Clyde V. Palmer; his sisters, Juanita and Pauline; his brothers-in-law, Bob Johnson, Jerry Morton and Elbert Steinbeck; and his sister-in-law, Carolyn Palmer.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Roger Byford, Paul Brown, Gary Worthy, Scott Glenn, Curby Helton and Tommy Wade.

Honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Palmer.
