Not how the Supreme Court works

Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin thinks that Clarence Thomas could recuse himself from ruling on Trump’s eligibility for the 2024 election. Like most liberal Democrats, he expects Thomas to vote along political lines instead of constitutional lines and the law. Like many Democrats, he’s upset because Trump appointed three conservative justices, thus, “stacking” the court. He expects the justices to vote along political lines regardless of the Constitution, and that’s not how the Supreme Court works. I guarantee you that if the Supreme Court was “stacked” with judges appointed by Obama or Biden, Mr. Raskin would be pushing for a ruling immediately and would expect to accept the court’s ruling unquestioned. The Supreme Court is not a branch or puppet of Congress or the President. It’s a sad state of affairs when our elected politicians can’t trust all judges to do what is “right” and best for the people rather than their rulings based on political views.

Will there be ramps with I-57?

Yes, I was wondering if you would be able to tell us if the new overpass that they’re building on I-57 out there by Sikeston, will there be exit and entrance ramps on that or is that just going to be an overpass to go over 57? Thank you.

We contacted David Jenkins, communications manager for the City of Sikeston. He provided the following response to your question: ‘That has not been decided as of yet by the Missouri Department of Transportation, but on Jan. 8 the Sikeston City Council approved the city’s stance for making the Ingram Road an interchange. Making it an interchange would be the inclusion of on/off ramps. The city is encouraging federal and state legislators, as well as citizens, to contact MoDOT and voice support for an interchange at Ingram Road.”

Everywhere you look

To the police officer in Morehouse: I’ve been watching everything. You follow my husband on his bike. He goes to the store and to the dollar store, nowhere else, and I can’t figure what the problem you have with him doing that. Seems like everywhere he goes, you following him. It’s past the harassment point. I mean everywhere he goes. What’s the deal with you on this matter? My husband don’t break any kind of laws. He’s a good, hard-working man. What’s the point you are trying to make? He went to the store this evening and you rode his bumper of his bike so close he could hear it and hear your motor running and your lights blinding me, and I believe that’s a little too close. Rode his bumper of his bike all the way home. I do believe that’s way too close. Every time he sees you, you enact your grim, staring him down. What’s the deal? Is it me or is this not harassment? And do you do everyone you see this way? Morehouse is a small town, not Chicago. I know you’re the new lawmaking town, going to clean this town up, but give me a break. I’m not one of those people you need be watching, and I will video each encounter from now on for my own safety.

Why the continued support?

Donald Trump has refused to sign a 2024 optional Illinois election oath stating he is not a Communist, and he will not overthrow the U.S. government. How can so many still continue to support him?

Work across the aisle

I am sick of U.S. Rep. Jason Smith. He just keeps going on about the border. He doesn’t want to work with other parties to try to get something done. He thinks that’s his best shot of staying in office, and he needs to work across the aisle. Thank you.
