“Our nation is at a real crossroads,” Burger said. “We live in a society that believes in ‘personal truth’ over facts. We need good men and women to stand up for what is right when it comes to government overreach, immigration and our values on abortion and guns.

He continued: “After much encouragement from neighbors and friends, I decided that I need to do what I can to right the ship.”

Burger is a former Scott County commissioner and manager at Buzzi Unicem USA, a local cement plant where he worked for more than 30 years. As a former Scott County commissioner, Burger worked closely with Cape County officials on the SEMO Port Authority, transportation and economic development issues for years.

“I’ve been part of the Cape Girardeau regional business community for over 30 years as a manager for a Cape Girardeau based business (Buzzi Unicem, USA),” Burger said. “I understand the challenges facing the economy in the Cape Girardeau area and I am best to represent those interests in Jefferson City.”

Born in Sikeston, Missouri, and raised in New Hamburg, Missouri, Burger attends St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, where he serves as lector and eucharistic minister. He is also a member of the NRA, Area Chambers of Commerce and the Knights of Columbus.

“From Cape Girardeau to Centerville and Perryville down to Sikeston, I just keep hearing the same things: stop the woke agenda coming out of D.C. and protect our small towns from the dangers of Biden’s open-border policies,” said Burger. “People don’t want complicated things – they just want big government to stay out of their lives.”

Burger currently lives in Benton with his wife, Sherry. Together, they have three children and eight grandchildren. They enjoy spending their time with family and remaining active in the local community. Burger has been a strong fundraiser and will post over $150,000 raised between his campaign and political action committee prior to announcing for the senate.
