HENDERSONVILLE, Ky. — Louie Alfred Belt Sr. went to be with the Lord on Jan 22, 2024.
He was born May 12, 1941, in Harrisburg, Illinois, to Aaron Ervin and Osa Elizabeth Belt. He was married for 62 years to Patty McElyea, and they had two children, Teresa Belt (Tulip), Munford Tennessee, and Louie (Nancy) Belt Jr., Gallatin, Tennessee; beloved granddaughter, Brittany (Jason) Roberts, Westmoreland, Tennessee; and grandson, Justin (Jana) Dover, Gallatin; two great-grandsons, Mason and Baylor; two church granddaughters, Peli Ross and Addie Thomas; and two little KLCC cowboy buddies, Corbyn and Danny. He is also survived by a brother, Kenny Belt of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and a sister, Maxine Bailey of Pleasant Hill, California.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Helen Finley; and two nephews.
Louie went to Sikeston, Missouri, High School and graduated in 1960. He joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served for eight years. One of the highlights of his service was being stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, with his family where they enjoyed the majestic beauty of that state. He was also a Vietnam veteran. After his service, the family moved back to Sikeston, and Louie went to work in construction. Later he opened Belt’s Construction Company. When he retired, he and Patty moved to Pirate’s Cove, Kentucky. Louie enjoyed fishing, hunting, going out to eat and riding around the cove on his golf cart to visit friends and neighbors, but his favorite thing each week was going to Kentucky Lake Cowboy Church. He loved his Church Family at KLCC and also loved his Sunday School family and other friends at Hardin Baptist Church. In July of 2023, Louie and Patty moved to Senior Living in Hendersonville to be near family due to Louie’s dementia progressing to the point that help was needed. He quickly became a favorite of other residents and the staff. He always had a big personality and he loved being around others. He was loved by his family and will be missed by them all.
A Memorial Service will be held at Kentucky Lake Cowboy Church, 88 Chilton Lane, Benton, Kentucky, on Feb. 4 at 12:30 p.m. Louie will be interred at a later date in the State Veterans Cemetery.
