4-1-1 on 2-3-5

I read the article about adding 2-3-5 to our phone numbers on Feb. 24 or March 24, but I have some questions. Would you use the Speakout number and tell us where the 235 goes — in front or behind the 573 number? Will my daughter who lives in Texas be able to use the same 11-digit phone number to call me as she can now? Thank you.

The new 235 area code for parts of Missouri will take effect Feb. 24. On and after Feb. 24, the previous 573 area code geographic footprint will also include the 235 area code. Anyone dialing a number in the affected region will need to use the full 10-digit number — area code and seven-digit number — for all calls. Beginning March 24, those assigning new telephone numbers will begin using the 235 area code.

Highway needs resurfaced

I ran into one of the Mississippi County commissioners over the weekend, and I was asking him about Highway 105 from East Prairie to Charleston. More or less what he said was the residents of Mississippi County need to pull together and call your commissioners and everything — yes, there’s more than one — and tell them we need our highway fixed. That is not a county road. That is Highway 105 and it is in dire need of resurfacing — not the county roads like they do over here in Mississippi County. We need our Highway 105 between East Prairie and Charleston resurfaced. If they can resurface 15 miles of a county road just farmers drive on, then they can resurface a highway that thousands of people drive on every day. Thank you.

Truth is out

The truth is now out. After years of blaming Democrats for our border immigration problems and blackmailing Congress by refusing to send help to Ukraine unless the Congress pass new laws toughening immigration. Biden has asked for reform legislation which has been needed for 30 years, and the Congress would not comply. He advised he would compromise to get the job done. The Senate has finally agreed on tough, new legislation most of which the Republicans wanted. Trump immediately told his gang to kill the bill rather than give Biden a win during an election. These are his words. McConnell, the senator, switched his position from supporting the bill to opposing so that Trump’s advantage would not be taken away. The Republican Party is no longer a Republican Party. It is a Trump party. The sooner people realize that what’s in the best interest of the country has no bearing on what Trump wants. The Republicans will do what he tells them to do.
