SIKESTON — Preschool students Sophie Jacobo and David Bailey complete a matching activity at the Sikeston Kindergarten and Early Childhood Center. Sikeston’ R-6 School District’s screenings for children ages birth through age 4 years will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 26; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 27; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 28; and 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 29 at the First United Methodist in Sikeston. Call 471-0653 for an appointment. Children in the Sikeston school district ages birth to 4 years can come through the free screening. Children who will be 4 years old by July 31 are eligible for preschool if they come through the screening. Parents should bring their children and their immunization records. Areas assessed will be health, speech, hearing and developmental. Counselors will go over the results with the parents. The screening process will take between 90 minutes and two hours.
