Law enforcement safely locate missing toddler in Lilbourn

LILBOURN, Mo. — Working together law enforcement officials were safely able to locate a missing toddler.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14, New Madrid County sheriff deputies were notified of a 3-year-old child missing from a residence in Lilbourn. According to a news release, the child was wearing only a diaper and had walked out of the residence between 12:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m.

A search began of the area by deputies along with members of the Lilbourn Fire Department, New Madrid Police and Fire Department, New Madrid County Emergency Management Agency, the Sikeston Department of Public Safety’s HRT and local citizens. After approximately two hours, the child was located about one-quarter of a mile from the residence.

Personnel with the New Madrid County Ambulance District responded and assessed the child, who was then released from the scene.
