Questions for commissioners

Scott County again, is asking for another ½-cent sales tax increase to fund supposedly needed law enforcement, building repairs and road repairs on the April election ballot. What are they doing with the Biden infrastructure money they received? What are they doing with the new and increased sales tax they collect on the marijuana sales they are now receiving? What are they doing with the new sales tax we now have to pay when we buy a car from out of state? What are they doing with the increased sales tax on gasoline? What are they doing with the new sales tax they receive from online internet sales? They now receive sales tax on everything we buy online. What are they doing with all these new taxes? How much tax do they need? Sikeston, and Scott County has basically had little or no population growth in the last 30 years but taxes continue to increase. Scott County has only said the tax increase would cover repairs to the county building, support the police and do some road repairs. Has anyone seen a detailed list of their projects? Remember this tax increase will last many, many years and the public should know what this tax money will be spent on even in the future. Prices for everything is very high now and they are collecting more sales tax than ever before. I urge everyone to vote against this tax increase without more transparency. We have been taken to the cleaners just too many times.

What is he implying?

Trump said in his campaign in Dayton, Ohio, on March 16: “If I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country.” Is he implying he will incite another Jan. 6 rebellion with his lies. This is shameful.

Bloodbath used by President Trump was an economic term to illustrate disaster to automobile industry meanining substantial losses by many people, as in a mass termination of employment or widespread financial loss. “The sudden market drop created a bloodbath among overoptimistic investors.”

Let this sink in

We got a $600 and a $1,200 dollar check during COVID. We worked all our lives pay in to the system. Ukraine gets $100 billion. Zelensky cancels the elections in Ukraine, and the Russian people just voted to keep Putin in power 87.9% of the vote thought Ukraine was a democracy. No, they are communists run by elite. Wake up.

Is this OK?

People crossing the border illegally get $3,000-$10,000, a place to live, free transportation and in some states, interest-free loans for homes with no down payment sanctuary and a part-time job which is what the job growth is reported by the fraudulent President in the State of the Union speech. They are untouchable to prosecute when caught breaking laws. You Democrats think this is OK? This is an invasion and a communist takeover period.

Not a fan

Instead of Congressman Jason Smith attending the Cape County Lincoln Day this past weekend, he opted for some resort around Charleston, South Carolina. Ole Jason spends more time on FOX News than in his district. He has developed a very aloof, arrogant, egotistical attitude, and the sad part is the fact he knows he can get away with it. Most events or functions in the district, he just sends a staffer and he is always AWOL and shame on him.
