I’d like to thank Jean Turner Cross of Poplar Bluff for the intelligent letter on March 22 to the Standard Democrat on aboration rights in our state. I’d also like to ask the newspaper where I can sign the petition to get a constitutional amendment on the November ballot so all Missourians can vote on the issue of abortion? Thank you.

Disrespectful treatment

I’m calling about a restaurant in Sikeston. I was in there. I’m an out of towner from St. Louis and I’m a person of color, but I was treated very disrespectful. I’ve done a little investigation around Sikeston and this has been going on for a while. Maybe the city can look into it, but at this time and age, we don’t have time for that. I didn’t realy care for the place anyway. They shouldn’t treat people of color like that, watching them, making sure they don’t steal anything, this, that and the other. It’s not good for the community, the town and the people. Thank you and have a nice day.

More price gouging

I want to talk about the gas stations over here in East Prairie. They had their gas at $3.39. Right after Easter, they went down to $3.19. You tell me that ain’t price gouging, but we’re the stupid ones over here in East Prairie. We keep going there buying gas. While they had their gas $3.39, Charleston, Sikeston, Matthews, everybody else had it for $3.19. If that ain’t price gouging, I don’t know what is.

Not Donald’s fault

How crazy can they get? Some goofball called in, complaining about the mail and blamed it on Donald Trump. Donald Trump doesn’t have any more to to do with the mail than the caller does. They’d do anything in the world to smear him and accuse him of anything.

Fooling a fool

It’s easy to fool a fool. In the April 10 Standard Speakout titled “Political lies,” we’re shown what’s wrong with this country. This person names NBC, CBS, MSNBC and ABC as broadcasting nothing but lies and says all you have to do is do your research to get the facts. This person doesn’t understand what research is. I doubt if his grade school teacher taught him what research was because you will notice the only station left off his list of propaganda stations was the only one in this country that was found by court of law to be lying to its listeners. They had to pay $750 million to the company that sued them and fire Tucker Carlson. That station is of course FOX News. This guy gets his facts from FOX News obviously or another one like it and believes them. That’s the true danger. He doesn’t know the facts when they hit him over the head, but he believes that he does. For goodness sakes, if you know how to research, he’s right. Do your research. He doesn’t even have a clue what research is.

Not what he said

The person who wrote in the Speakout column on March 30 is obviously making up his own lies to support Trump. People crossing the border illegally are not getting $3,000-$10,000, a place to live. free transportation and in some states, interest-free loans for homes with no down payment sanctuary and a part-time job. This is not what the president said in the State of the Union. The author of this obviously did not view or listen to the State of the Union at all.
