NEW MADRID, Mo. — Edwin “Ed” L. Bickerstaff Jr., 67, of New Madrid went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Southeast. He was born Nov. 18, 1956, to Edwin L. and Anna Sue (Neihoff) of Paducah, Kentucky.

He married the love of his life, Rhonda Dillon, on June 30, 1979.

Ed was a devoted family man and a hard worker, and he never met a stranger. He worked as a welder-mechanic/supervisor at Associated Electric Power Plant for many years before retirement. He was an avid hunter of all kinds but was a devoted duck hunter and loved to judge field trial hunt test.

Ed gave his life to the Lord in March of 2017. He joined Kewanee Missionary Baptist Church and served in the church.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rhonda Bickerstaff; two sons, Jason of New Madrid, Brandon of Jacksonville, Florida. He is Paw Paw to his twin granddaughters, Mckayla and Antonia of Jacksonville. He was the oldest of seven siblings, Robert, Ray, Lisa, Mark, Karen and Joel.

He was preceded in death by his dad.

Ed will be greatly missed by his family, many friends.

Services were conducted Monday, April 22, 2204, at Kewanee Missionary Baptist Church with Dan Wisely officiating.

Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid.

Pallbearers were Reid Howell, Phillip Rorer, Jerry Mann, Shannon Sprouse, Mark Bickerstaff and Robert Bickerstaff.
