Endangered Silver Advisory alert issued for East Prairie man

Melvin Tripp was reported missing Friday, May 3, 2024, in East Prairie. Anyone seeing Tripp, a suspect, associate or vehicle or anyone having any information related to the endangered missing person should immediately dial 911 to contact the nearest law enforcement agency or call the Mississippi County Sherrif's Department at 573-683-2111.

CHARLESTON, Mo. — The Mississippi County Sherrif's Department has issued an Endangered Silver Advisory for a missing East Prairie, Missouri, man.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Melvin Joe Tripp, 79, was last seen at 2:15 p.m. Friday, May 3 at his home at 541 N. Lincoln St. in East Prairie.

Tripp, who has been diagnosed with dementia, is described as a white male who is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. He has gray hair, a gray beard and green eyes. He wears glasses and was last seen whearing a red flannel overshirt, white T-shirt and blue jean shorts.

Tripp’s white 2011 Toyota Camry bearing the Missouri license plate, GD7L6C, was last seen leaving his residence in an unknown direction of travel, the Patrol sadi.
