Autopsy scheduled following fatal shooting in New Madrid County

LILBOURN, Mo. —An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15 as part of a fatal shooting investigation.

At approximately 4 p.m. Sunday, May 12, New Madrid County Sheriff deputies responded to a residence on Highway 62 near Lilbourn after receiving a call from the homeowner. The man told officers he had shot someone burglarizing his residence.

At the scene, officers found a deceased female with a single gunshot wound.

The autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m., according to a news release from the Department. The names of those involved are currently being withheld as the investigation continues.
