MORLEY, Mo. — For the past year and a half, Nancy Williams of Jackson, Missouri, said she’s enjoyed filling a niche in the community while running her antique and collectibles business in Morley.

“My husband, Bill, and I love going to auctions, and we actually had a storage unit we were selling items out of and then we had to get a second storage unit,” Williams recalled about the beginnings of her business. “We decided we had to either stop going to auctions or find a place to sell this stuff.”

Williams said she had been looking for a place for a couple years when the building located at 108 N. Kennett St. in Morley became available and was affordable. She and her husband purchased the building, which formerly housed a church, in October 2022.

Two months later, Judt’s Treasures officially opened for business.

Williams said her store is named after her own mother, the late Judy Scherer.

“A good friend of hers called her Judt,” Williams said.

Scherer collected antiques, too, and when someone once called the items “junk,” Williams said her mother corrected them: “No, these are my treasures.”

And, thus, Judt’s Treasures was born. The store features over 50 booths and vendors within 5,000 square feet and includes two levels: the main floor and a basement, Williams said.

While items sold are mostly antiques, Williams said the store booths feature a wide variety of items: local honey; furniture; glassware — pink depression, green depression, moon and star; makeup; purses; wind chimes; and more.

“We rent a space to sellers, and we keep 10% of what they sell,” Williams said.

Those interested in selling items at Judt’s should call or stop by for more information or to complete an application.

“We do require a three-month commitment and they can pay monthly or for all three months at one time,” Williams said, adding there is currently booth space available for rental.

Overall, business has been good, Williams said, adding the business does have Facebook and Instagram pages under “Judt’s Treasures.”

Williams is also gearing up for her second annual outdoor flea market, which is set for 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at her store in Morley. Kelly High School FFA students will be on hand selling plants, and a food truck will be on site.

Special giveaways are also planned, Williams said. Customers who purchase $25 or more from now until May 18 will be entered for a drawing of a gift basket valued at over $200. Also, on the day of the outdoor flea market, those who purchase $10 or more in the store can be registered for hourly door prizes. Winners for the door prizes must be present to win, she said.

Located at 108 N. Kennett St. in Morley, Judt’s is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 573-212-9008.
