1 death confirmed in Sunday storm

SIKESTON — At least one death related to Sunday’s severe weather has been confirmed.

According to Capt. Derick Wheetley with Sikeston Department of Public Safety, officers responded Sunday, May 26 after DPS received a report of a possible person under a tree near Matthews Park. Upon their arrival, they located a deceased man in a tent under the tree, Wheetley said. The man’s identity has not been released.
