Two Sikeston residents killed in crash

ESSEX, Mo. — Two Sikeston residents were killed after being ejected from the vehicle they were traveling in late Thursday, May 30 in Stoddard County.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 9:30 p.m. on US Highway 60, three miles east of Essex, as the eastbound vehicle driven by Chance D. Winkler, 19, of Neosho, Missouri, struck the rear of the eastbound vehicle driven by Sheila K. Mosley, 65, of Sikeston, causing both vehicles to run off the right side of the road. Mosley and her passenger, Gerald K. Mosley, 81, of Sikeston were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene at 10:20 p.m. by Stoddard County Coroner Brent Stidham. They were transported to the Stoddard County Morgue.

Mosley’s second passenger, Jamie D. Minks, 44, of Dexter, Missouri, received minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

The Coroner’s Office was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Stoddard County Sheriffs Office and Essex Fire Department.
